Dear Esteemed Members of the Korean Society of Cardiology,
Over the past decades, the Korean Society of Cardiology (KSC) has played a pivotal role in leading the development of cardiology in Korea and has been recognized as an established organization on the global stage. I feel greatly honored and have tremendous responsibilities to serve as a President and CEO of KSC at this crucial moment, as we need to prepare for a new leap forward while keeping our tradition and reputation.
During my tenure, I would like to lead the society focusing on the following four directions:
First, it is to revitalize cardiovascular disease research and improve innovation in clinical practice sites. We will actively support our researchers to pursue creative and challenging researches, and help establish innovative treatment guidelines that could be practically applied in the clinical field.
Second, it is to expand international exchanges and multidisciplinary cooperation. We will strengthen our connections with global cardiology organizations such as ACC, ESC, and APSC, and will further raise our status on the international stage. We will also expand opportunities to promote multidisciplinary research and clinical care in cardiology.
Third, it is to train the juniors and to enhance education. We will cultivate young researchers and clinicians who will be seen as the future leaders of cardiology and will create an environment of growth to provide. The development of sustainable growth in cardiology will begin with strong education and the passion of the younger generation in the field.
Fourth, it is to step up cooperation with the government and society. KSC should be not merely an academic community but also be a critical social institution to protect public health. We will work to raise awareness about the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, provide academic expertise for public health policies, and suggest a direction for the public and the medical community to move forward together.
During my term, I will listen attentively to the voices of our members and work together with all of you to pave the way for a brighter future for KSC. It is said that the sound of a stream comes from the variety of stones of various sizes. I will always remain my initial intention and will listen to the diverse perspectives of our members.
Thank you.
President and CEO,
The Korean Society of Cardiology
