Background竊�There have been limited data regarding role of statin in patients (pts) with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stent (DES).Method: The study population consisted of 5336 consecutive AMI patients underwent PCI with DES enrolled in the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR) study from November 2005 to April 2008. Statin types and doses were depending on the physician���s discretion and 4132 pts were received from the presentation time. We investigated the clinical outcomes using propensity score (PS) adjustment between 4132 statin-naïve pts and those without statin treatment (n=1204) up to 12 months.Results: The baseline characteristics are similar between the two groups, except that pts in Statins group were younger than no statin group (61.7짹12.1 vs 63.7짹12.2, p<0.05). Mortality, repeat PCI predominantly derived by less non TVR, recurrent AMI and total major adverse cardiac events (MACE) were significantly lower in the statin group (Table). Statin administration was associated with less incidence of MACE at 12 months (ORunadjusted: 0.511, 95% CI: 0.424-0.618, P<0.01; ORadjusted by ps:0.603, 95% CI: 0.481-0.765, P<0.01).Conclusion: Routine administration of Statins in AMI pts undergoing PCI with DES showed better 12-month clinical outcomes compared with those of AMI pts without statin therapy.
