Background竊�There are very limited data regarding role of statin in managing acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients (pts) managed by thrombolytic therapy instead of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Method: The study population consisted of 356 consecutive STEMI patients (pts) managed by intravenous thrombolysis using TNK (tenecteplase) or UK (urokinase) enrolled in the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR) study from November 2005 to April 2008. Statin administration, types and doses were depending on the physician���s discretion. We investigated the clinical outcomes between 300 statin-naïve pts and those without statin treatment (n=56) up to 12 months.Results: The baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups. Interestingly, cardiac mortality and total major adverse cardiac events (MACE) were less in the statin group. There was a trend toward less incidence of target lesion and non-target vessel revascularization (TLR & Non TVR, Table). Statin administration was associated with less incidence of MACE at 12 months (ORunadjusted:0.404, 95% CI: 0.176-0. 929, P=0.033), this difference was also significant after adjusted many confounding variables (ORadjusted:0.381, 95% CI: 0.159-0.910, P=0.030).Conclusion: Routine administration of Statins in acute STEMI pts following thrombolytic therapy showed better 12-month clinical outcomes compared with those of STEMI pts without statin therapy.
