Background: Transthoracic echocardiography provides noninvasive measurement of coronary flow velocity in the distal epicardial coronary arteries. The aims of this study were to characterize regional left ventricular systolic and diastolic function by myocardial doppler imaging and to evaluate the relation of coronary flow velocity and other conventional echocardiographic parameters in patient with septal, apical and concentric hypertrophy. Method: In 47 patients (12 septal hypertrophy, 9 apical hypertrophy, 11 concentric hypertrophy, 15 normal), we measured basic echocardiographic parameter, peak velocity, time-velocity integral, and deceleration time of left anterior descending artery blood flow and the systolic strain at apical 4 chamber view. Results: See the below table. Conclusion: Hypertrophied myocardium had abnormality of myocardial deformation related to the degree of hypertrophy. Myocardial doppler imaging offered an approach to quantify regional systolic and diastolic dysfunction.
