Objective and background:
Recently, drug-eluting stent (DES) is becoming more widely used for its known excellent clinical outcome. So we compared the utilization pattern and clinical outcome between DES and bare metal stent (BMS) in the real world.
Method and result:
We reviewed Catholic Medical Center stenting registry from 2003-January to 2004-July. 510 patients treated with drug-eluting stents (n=750) were compared with 530 patients who received BMS (n=684). The reuslts are shown in table.
Conclusion:
Patients in the DES group had longer length, smaller diameter and more number stents compared with the BMS group. However, the rate of restenosis and MACE in DES group is lower than that of BMS group.
