Background : The optimal management of pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum(PA-IVS) in the neonate remains controversial. Methods : Eight patients with thick fibromuscular type pulmonary valvar atresia in PA-IVS were operated at neonatal period in the Sejong General Hospital from January 2000 to December 2000. In these patients, percutaneous balloon valvotomy (PBV) was attempted in 7 : 6 neonates were failed and 1 had residual infundibular stenosis.
