Purpose:Congenital coronary artery anomalies occur in only 1% in a general population. Although most of these anomalies lack clinical significance, certain anomalies have been associated with myocardial ischemia and sudden death. Until now, the diagnosis of coronary artery anomalies has been made with catheter angiography. However, this method is invasive. Recently, the usefulness of the multidetector computed tomography(MDCT) has been known in evaluating coronary artery anomalies. We try to evaluate coronary artery anomalies using MDCT. Methods:64-slice MDCT was conducted on 1778 patients suspected with coronary artery disease. The imagings of MDCT were analyzed by experienced radiologist and cardiologist. The origin, course and termination of coronary arteries were evaluated. Results:Among the 1778 patients, 25 patients(1.41 %) were found to have congenital coronary artery anomalies. Six had anomalous origin of right coronary artery(RCA) from left coronary sinus coursing between aorta and right ventricular outflow tract(RVOT). Seven had high take off RCA, one had high take off LCA. In two patients, there was anomalous origin of LCX from RCA. Two patients had separate origin of LAD and LCX from left aortic sinus. The two patient had no RCA. In five patient, there was anomalous termination of coronary arteries including fistula Conclusions:In our study, MDCT provided detailed anomalous vessel origin and course with adjacent anatomical structures. MDCT could be a noninvasive method for evaluate coronary arterial anomalies.
