Background and objectives : Several studies have shown the efficacy of Sirolimus-Eluting Stents (SES) compared to bare metal stents for PCI of CTO. However, the efficacy of Zotarolimus-Eluting Stents (ZES) has not been reported in CTO intervention, compared with SES. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes between SES and ZES in the treatment of chronic coronary total occlusion (CTO). Method and Result : From January 2006 to June 2008, we enrolled 108 patients with CTO lesion in this prospective multicenter trial. 74 patients were treated with SES and 34 patients with ZES for CTO intervention. We compared the baseline clinical and procedural characteristics, and in-hospital adverse event as well as one-year major adverse cardiac event MACE : cardiac death, target lesion revascularization, target vessel revascularization, congestive heart failure, stent thrombosis between both stents. There was no statistical difference among baseline characteristics, disease extent, and target vessels. In hospital days, no MACE was occurred in both groups. There is no difference in MACE during one year between the SES group and the ZES group (table). Conclusion : There was no difference of in-hospital and one year clinical outcome between SES and ZES for PCI of CTO lesion.
