Background: Magnetocardiography (MCG) is a non-invasive, non-contrast and radiation-free method and believed to be superior to electrocardiography (ECG) for the detection of cardiac electrical disturbances associated with myocardial ischemia. This technique analyze spatially and temporally the very weak magnetic fields produced by currents flowing within myocardial fibers during cardiac activity. However, there was few data regarding diagnostic power of MCG comparing other methods than ECG. So, we investigated the accuracy (sensitivity and specificity) of MCG on detecting coronary artery disease compared with well-known diagnostic method, SPECT (adenosine sesta MIBI scan), in same patients. Methods: We analyzed magnetic signal changes and myocardia blood flow of angina patients (n=62) by MCG and SPECT with adenosine infusion. The MCG recordings were measured by 62-channel planar gradiometer system in a magnetically shielded room. We defined coronary disease by occlusion of coronary artery more than 50% on coronary angiogram. MCG data were processed via software using automated computer analysis. Five MCG parameters(Map angle maximum, Map angle minimum, Map angle dynamics, Distance dynamics, Ratio dynamics) and field map pattern was used as detecting myocardiac ischemia. Conclusion: MCG was comparable with SPECT in diagnosis of coronary artery disease. But it is non invasive and has less harmful than the other. So, MCG will be promising tool as detect ischemic heart diasease
