Background : To investigate the difference in clinical and angiographic results between Cypher and Taxus stent in STEMI. Methods : We analysed 233 STEMI patients retrospectively (176 patients in Cypher group (Group C), 57 patients in Taxus group (Group T)) 85.0% of PCI was primary PCI. Results : Mean age was 61±13 (group C), 62±14 (group T) and 77% was male in each group. 27.5% was diabetics and 70.0% was smokers. 64.2% of group C, 66.7% of group T had multivessel disease and left main was culprit of STEMI in 4.0%, 3.5% respectively. 6 months follow up CAG was done in 81.3% , 83.7% of patients, respectively. QCA data was shown in Table. Stent diameter and length were 3.01±0.34mm, 26.4±6.95mm in group C, 3.12±0.34mm, 24.4±5.18mm in group T. (p=0.027, p=0.048) Late loss was larger in group T. (0.05±0.39mm vs 1.05±3.90mm, p=0.008) 6 month diameter stenosis was slightly better in group C, although similar immediately after PCI. (15.2±12.5% vs 21.7±17.8%, p=0.02) Binary restenosis rate was similar. (4.4% vs 13.9%, p=0.06) All patients finished 6 months clinical follow up. Pain to balloon time (350min vs 356min), initial EF, FU EF had no difference. Although angiographical results favored group C, inhospital death (5.1% vs 1.8%), 6 months MACE (death, MI, TVR) had no difference. (11.8% vs 11.9%). TLR, TVR was 3.0%, 4.4% in group C, 7.1%, 7.1% in group T. (p=ns) The incidence of stent thrombosis was 4.4%, 2.4% in each group. (totally 7 patients, p=ns) Conclusion : Although Cypher stent has lower late loss compared to Taxus stent in ST elevaton acute myocardial infarction, there is no difference in major adverse cardiac events between Cypher and Taxus.
