Background: Direct comparison between testosterone levels and ST-segment elevations in the right precordial leads has never been elucidated in subjects with normal testosterone level. Methods: This study included 75 adults with no evidence of cardiac disease and normal testosterone levels. No subjects had typical symptom or family history of Brugada syndrome. We evaluated the association between testosterone levels and ECG parameters in these subjects. Measurements of ECG variables were carried out electronically with Photoshop 7.0.1 from scanned ECGs. We used Bazett’s formula to calculate the corrected QT interval (QTc). Results: All subjects were in sinus rhythm without typical ST-segment changes of Brugada syndrome. Male subjects had more elevated ST-segments in V1 and V2 than those of female subjects. Female subjects showed more prolonged QTc interval than that of male subjects (Table). There were significant correlation between testosterone levels and ST-segment elevations in the right precordial leads (r2=0.137, p=0.001) and inverse correlation between testosterone level and QTc interval (r2=0.078, p=0.015). Conclusion: Significant correlations between testosterone levels and ECG parameters such as ST-segment elevations in the right precordial leads and QTc interval in adult subjects with normal testosterone level were observed.
